Definisi Kesulitan Belajar

What is Inclusive Education?

Yangxia Lee, Lao PDR

Inclusive education should be viewed in terms of including traditionally excluded or marginalized groups or making the invisible visible. The most marginalized groups are often invisible in society: disabled children, girls, children in remote villages, and the very poor. These invisible groups are excluded from governmental policy and access to education.

Bandung.... the Forgotten City… awaits to be re-discovered

Stephen Fleay for many years a freelance correspondent for the BBC, has now moved to Bandung. Stephen had initially planned semi-retirement in Chiang Mai northern Thailand, but decided after just two years there, that in Indonesia the former “Parijs Van Java” was a far more interesting place.

Some of Stephen’s impressions follow...

A recent email in reply to mine that we’d moved to Bandung was….”So I’m not sure where Bandung is, but it must be somewhere in Thailand”…this capped off a wealth of ignorance over a city that was once destined to be the capital of the Netherlands Indies, a city which also due to its mild climate and fashionable buildings and shops was known as the “Paris of Java”, a city which is now forgotten by the west but has a wealth of touristic opportunities.

This Is What a Holy Shit Moment for Global Warming Looks Like

According to two new studies, the collapse of much of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet may now be irreversible. That could ultimately mean 10 feet of sea level rise.

This Antarctic glacier may be history, says new research. It contains almost two feet of sea level rise, and that's just the beginning.

If you truly understand global warming, then you know it's all about the ice. That's what matters. Planet Earth has not always had great ice sheets at the poles, of the sort that currently exist atop Greenland and Antarctica. In other periods, much of that water has instead been in liquid form, in the oceans—and the oceans have been much higher.

Character Education in America’s Public Schools

By Davis, Derek H

The need for instruction in ethics and morals in our nation’s schools is acknowledged by virtually everyone. Yet there is a great deal of confusion and disagreement about how to do this, especially in the public schools.

Many educators want to teach morals from a religious perspective, and are frustrated by U.S. Supreme Court decisions that make advancing a particular religious worldview inappropriate in the public schools. The Court has made it clear, however, that religion can be taught, provided it is done in an objective and neutral way, such that the schools are not using their authority to shape and direct the course of students’ religious training. The specific elements of personal religious training, the Court has said, is to be left to parents, extended family, and the various religious and non-governmental institutions that shape people’s lives. Thus many secondary schools offer courses in world religions, comparative religions, the history of religion, religious themes in literature, and the like, but these courses are designed more to expose students to the important role of religion in human life than to train them in moral thinking.
